Breast tumors and vaginal tumors are common clinical diseases in pets. Solid progress inmedical methodology will provide invaluable reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment ofthese diseases. Based on the clinical diagnosis of symptoms, people can perform special andlaboratory examinations for breast tumors and vaginal tumors. According to the bodyconditions of affected dogs, the developing stage of the diseases and other specificcircumstances, we can choose different treatment plan such as conservative therapy or surgerytreatment. We need to take proactive measures to prevent the formation of breast and vaginaltumor, according to the physical conditions and development stage of the canine.Based on the17cases of breast tumors and12cases of vaginal tumors in affected dogs, Isystematically summed up the approach to diagnose and treat canine breast tumors andvaginal tumors.Canine breast tumor is frequently occurring in the female dogs, while the male dogoccasionally suffers from it. The incidence of breast tumors is related to dog breed, age, sex, sterilization cases, but also with the dog’s diet, feeding and management. After initialdiagnosis by clinical examination, we can do a further examination to diagnose breast tumors, such as X-ray examination, cytology and other tests. Moreover, we can make a biopsyidentify the benign and malignant tumor. By routine blood tests, we can know the overallcondition of the body and it will provide guidance for the follow-up treatment. According tothe body conditions of dog and developing stage of diseases, we select different treatmentmethod. Surgery is mainly used in these diseases and chemotherapy drugs are adjuvanttherapy.Different pathogenic sites of canine mammary tumor take different surgical resection. If incidence of tumor in the first or second dairy region, we resect1-3breast and surroundingtissue; If In the third dairy region, we resect all ipsilateral breast and subcutaneous inguinallymph nodes; If in the fourth or fifth dairy region, we resect it from the third mammary glandto the fifth mammary gland, including inguinal lymph nodes and surrounding tissue; If theyare several breast tumors which are not connected it, we resect all ipsilateral breast andsubcutaneous inguinal lymph nodes. Patients with mild symptoms or elderly dogs with heartdisease often take conservative therapy, such as chemotherapy, hormonal therapy. Because canine mammary tumorigenes is regulated by hormone, early neutering play an important rolein the prevention of canine mammary tumors.Vaginal tumors mainly occur in dogs over3years old, expecially the German shepherdand chow. Canine transmissible tumor and smooth muscle tumors are commonly-occurringvenereal tumor. There are many factors which easily induce vaginal tumor. In order toimprove the pregnancy rate, people abuse of estrogen aphrodisiac drugs that will lead toreproductive tract tumors in dogs; Transmissible venereal tumors can be spread to other dogsby copulation. Dog vaginal tumors are mostly benign, only a few diseases are malignant.People can make a judgment of vaginal tumors through preliminary diagnosis by clinicalexaminations, such as interrogation, vaginal examination, the rectum examination. To make aprecise diagnosis, we need further evidences from cytology of vaginal smears and cells withsuction technique as well as B-ultrasonic-inspection. And according to the results from theroutine blood test, serum biochemical test, blood ion test, and blood gas analysis, people canmake a judgment of the whole physiological conditions for guidance of further treatment.Based on the physical condition of the dog and the development of the disease, we selectdifferent treatment method. Surgery is mainly used in these diseases and chemotherapy drugsare adjuvant therapy. Different pathogenic sites of canine venereal tumor take differentsurgical resection. If the tumor is deep in vagina, we can resect it through a incision betweenthe vagina and anus; if it is a vaginal vestibule tumor or shallow vaginal tumor, we candirectly expose it and resect it; if the vaginal tumor associated with vaginal removal, beforereturn of vaginocele, we should clean and disinfect vaginocele, resect the tumor. After surgery, chemotherapy drugs such as vincristine are adjuvant therapy. We also need give patientspostoperative intensive care.
