On The Development Of Agriculture And Animal Husbandry In Northern Han Dynasty From The Stone Relief

Northern Shaanxi is one of those places where a great number of stone relief are excavated, and those stone relief can intuitively reflect social economic developmental conditions of Northern Shaanxi in Han Dynasty. Stone relief of husbandry is the most particular part. This thesis concludes that stone relief materials can be regarded as the historical materials and intuitively and truthfully reflect developmental conditions of husbandry in North of Shaanxi on the basis of analysis of the authenticity of stone relief materials. Therefore, the author collects the husbandry of stone relief materials in Northern Shaanxi as much as possible, searches the differences in different stone relief and the same pictures by means of comparative study and synthetical analysis, and carries out study with historical materials to reappear developmental conditions of husbandry of Northern Shaanxi in Han Dynasty.Stone relief belongs to historical relics of archaeology, and the materials of stone relief in Northern Shaanxi were excavated early. Due to behindhand technology and restrained environment, we can hardly see the original appearance of them. Some stone relief had vivid colors when they were excavated which would fade away qulckly via air oxidation. Thus, bases on a plenty of archaeological reports, the author gets through investigation in these areas of Suide, Mizhi, Shenmu, Yulin and other areas where stone relief are excavated. In addition, the author observes carefully in stone relief museums of Han Dynasty and surveys staff who have joined in excavation to restore the original appearance of stone relief.From the recalling academic history of predecessors’study achievements and research for innovation of the thesis, it will introduce study spheres and contents and offer study methods and ideas for the study of the whole thesis.In order to achieve the purpose of the study, this paper analyzes and discusses the development of a comprehensive portrait of the situation, as reflected in the stone of the Eastern Han Dynasty in northern Shaanxi region from planting industry, breeding industry, hunting industry. This section contains the main contents, which elaborates developmental conditions of husbandry of Northern Shaanxi in Han Dynasty; it discusses the correlation between the husbandry development of Northern Shanxi in Han Dynasty and the blending of minority and ethnic Han. Moreover, it analyzes ecotope changes through the animals’ food chain reflected through study of stone relief.With regard to the development of planting industry of Northern Shanxi in Han Dynasty. It will reflect the common crop categories, cultivation measures, farm tools types and management technology of Northern Shaanxi in Han Dynasty through the stone relief excavated in Northern Shanxi. According to these, the readers will have a general judgment of the main farming areas and summarize developmental features of that time.For the development of the development of breeding industry of Northern Shaanxi in Han Dynasty. On the basis of classification of various stone relief of breeding industry, this thesis concludes that breeding industry of Northern Shaanxi in Han Dynasty can be divided into ranch grazing and family farms and analyzes the figures of different animals to judge their uses. Stone relief can reflect the breeding ways of minority, so this chapter reveals the economic exchanges between minority and ethnic Han through analysis of excavated stone relief and tomb archaeology.In his discussion of the development of the situation in northern Shaanxi Han hunting industry is to analyze the stone portraits of hunting scenes. Because hunting scenes are very common and distinctive in stone relief of Northern Shaanxi. This chapter unscrambles concrete figures in stone relief of hunting and sorts out three kinds of prevailing hunting measures in Han Dynasty, including hunters hunt, falcons trap and hound auxiliary. Linking together different hunting pictures in comic strip, this chapter can restore hunting scenes of Northern Shaanxi in Han Dynasty. In the meanwhile, this chapter also concludes the ecotope of Northern Shaanxi in Han Dynasty and summarizes the economic and social development conditions by analyzing the pictures of mountain forest and birds and beasts.As the fourth chapter in the whole thesis, makes a summary. Through the analysis of places where stone relief are excavated, this section makes the most subjective view: In Northern Shaanxi of Han Dynasty, Wuding River basin represented by Suide and Mizhi is planting area; along the line of Great Wall represented by Shenmu and Yulin is husbandry and planting industry. This is also the innovation of the whole thesis. It marks micro partitions in the view of historical geography, demonstrates development conditions of husbandry in the area and starts from subtlety to make a general conclusion.
