Study On The Temporal And Spatial Difference Of The Relationship Between Coal Consumption And Economic Growth In Jiangsu Province

Coal is the most important energy factor in our country, the exploitation and use of coal make great contributions to energy industry and the development of national economies. At present,the proportion of coal resources in energy consumption structure in Jiangsu province is about60%,as the dominant position in the energy consumption structure,forming a large-scale coal demand.However Jiangsu is a province with comparatively limited coal resources,a series of problems,such as contradiction between supply and demand.So research the spatial and temporal differences of the economic development and coal consumption in Jiangsu would make a great significance to realize the provincial and regional coal consumption and economic growth,finding out a way to coordinate the economic development and coal consumption,realizing the sustainable development of economy, society and ecology.The article based on27year of Jiangsu1985-2012time series data,discusses the temporal evolution characteristics of economic development and coal consumption. In the above basis of the study,analysis the relationship of economic growth and coal consumption,according to the analysis,we can concluded that there is a long-term cointegration between economic growth and coal consumption in Jiangsu province,and the results of Granger causality test is that there is a one-waycausal relationship between economic growth and coal consumption, economic growth is the reason for the growth of coal consumption.Then this paper analyses the evolution of the spatial difference of coal consumption in Jiangsu Province from three aspects, which contains the whole province, three wide regions, and every prefecture-level city. And there are using some mathematical methods in the spatial difference analysis, such as the relative extreme difference, weighted variation coefficient and Jenks natural classification, etc. Results indicate that regional difference of coal consumption in Jiangsu Province obviously shows an ascending trend. The absolute difference between the three wide regions is also enlarging. Internal difference in the north of Jiangsu is largest, and then the middle part of Jiangsu, the least is the south of Jiangsu. However, coal consumption types and their changes in every prefecture-level city are consistent with the economic pattern evolution of Jiangsu Province. Based on the above research results,the author advanced the strategies as follows:Fisrtly,control the consumption of the coal,and develop clean energy sources;Secondly, Rely on scientific and technological progress, improve the utilization efficiency of coal;Thirdly,adjust messures to local conditions,and promote the regional common development;Finally,we should continued to improve and implement the relevant laws and regulations.and enhance the people’s energy saving awareness.
