Study On The Coordination Between Urbanization Quality And Urbanization Level In Shandong Province

The level of urbanization reflects the social and economic development of an area or acountry. It is usually mearsured by the proportion of urban residents. But the index to evaluatelevel of urbanization is single and the urban population is difficult to count accurately, so theindicators of urbanization couldn’t reflects the regional urbanization development and residents’quality of life well and truly. As a consequence, the study of the measurement of urbanizationquality and the coordination between urbanization quality and urbanization level is significantfor the sustainable development of urbanization.This study is based on the district and county scales.The first, construct the comprehensivemeasures index system of urbanization quality and analyse the urbanization quality based on thedistrict and county scales with AHP. Calculate the score of the economic urbanization quality,society urbanization quality, urban space urbanization quality and the comprehensive quality ofurbanization and perform spatial analysis on the basis of the map of urbanization quality ofShandong province. The second, perform an analysis about the coordination betweenurbanization quality and urbanization level with quadrantal diagram method. Divide the districtsand counties into different classifications and make an analysis accord the map of thecoordination between urbanization quality and urbanization level of Shandong province.At last,suggestions about the problems of research conclusions are given.The study found that there are different levels about Regional urbanization quality ofShandong province. The urbanization quality reduces gradually from peninsula in easterncoastal areas to the western inland region.The high quality areas are urban districts and county-level cities in generally, especially for eastern region and middle region of Shandong province.There are obvious spatial differentiation about the high levels of coordination cities(the easternregion and the middle region of Shandong province) and the low level coordination cities(thesouthern region and the western regions of Shandong provinces).There is no obvious correlationbetween the coordination of urbanization and the urbanization process. The coordinationbetween urbanization quality and urbanization level is based on different urbanizationphases.The coordinations is at different levels and the cities in different urbanization phasescan’t be compared.The sustainable development of regional urbanization always tend to be in or near that idealstate which the urbanization quality and the urbanization level is in the situation of harmony.Sodifferent cities should make of different region urbanization development policy according tolocal conditions. The cities belongs to urbanization exorbitant type should attract more population.The cities belongs to urbanization retarded type should improve urbanizationquality.The cities belongs to urbanization coordinative type should continue in the coordinativecondition.
