The Connotation Of Higher Quality Employment And The Analysis Of The Causes Of Its Problems

Employment is vital to people’s livelihood. From the industrial revolution to the current knowledge economy era of high globalization and informatization, the quality of employment gets more and more attention from academia, government, enterprises and workers. In the report at18th Party Congress, the employment problem became one of the standards measuring whether people’s living standards improve, and the inevitable requirement of building a well-off society in an all-round way was to promote higher quality of employment. With putting forward this new concept, it requests that we should strengthen social management and innovation to achieve the requirements and goals in the contemporary society with accelerating the transformation of the pattern of economic development. To achieve higher quality employment complies with the requirements of the people’s pursuit of high quality life, and it’s of great significance to promote economic development, ensuring and improving people’s livelihood and build a harmonious socialist society.Based on overseas employment theory and scholars’ studies on decent work and the quality of employment, this article puts forward the connotation of higher quality of employment, including the level of human capital, income level, employment environment, labor relations, social security and working conditions, and has more in-depth researches and systematic analysis on the connotation of higher quality of employment of Shanghai from these six aspects, in order to provide a new perspective to study on achieving higher quality employment for Shanghai. On the convent of the research, this article uses special investigation data to analyze the deep-seated reasons of the problems of achieving higher quality employment for Shanghai, in order to provide theoretical help for the promotion of the employment’s quality and promoting a healthy, efficient and sustainable development of economy for Shanghai.The article is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is introduction, putting forward the research background, purpose and significance of this article. The second chapter combs and summarizes the relevant employment theory and practice at home and abroad. The third chapter puts forward the connotation of higher quality employment on the basis of the evolution of the connotation of employment quality. The fourth chapter analyzes the employment situation of Shanghai and the related factors of the connotation of higher quality of employment for Shanghai. The fifth chapter analyzes the problems of achieving higher quality employment for Shanghai and the deep-seated reasons for these problems based on the employment situation of Shanghai and its connotation. The sixth chapter puts forward the conclusion of this article and the research work needed to be done next.
