Work engagement has become a hot issue in organizational behavior and enterprise management practice in recent years. Improving employees’degree of work engagement is of great practical significance for the development of enterprises. This research tries to study the relationship between leader empowering behaviors and employees’work engagement in the context of China, and also the moderating role of employees’core self-evaluation between the two variables.Based on the literature review and theoretical analysis, this research conducted a questionnaire survey to collect data, and then carry out descriptive statistics analysis, reliability and validity test, variance analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis and the examination of moderating effect, finally, we reached the following conclusions:(1)The four dimensions of leader empowering behaviors:enhancing the meaningfulness of work, fostering participation in decision making, expressing confidence in high performance and providing autonomy are all positively correlated to employees’work engagement;(2) Enhancing the meaningfulness of work, fostering participation in decision making and providing autonomy can positively predict employees’work engagement, however, the effect of expressing confidence in high performance on employees’work engagement is not significant;(3) Employees’ core self-evaluation plays a moderating effect on the relationship between enhancing the meaningfulness of work and employees’ work engagement, and also the relationship between providing autonomy and employees’work engagement, however, the moderating effect of employees’core self-evaluation on the relationship between fostering participation in decision making and employees’work engagement has not been found significant, as well as the moderating effect of employees’core self-evaluation on the relationship between expressing confidence in high performance and employees’work engagement.Finally, this paper provides some suggestions for enterprise management practice based on the research conclusions, and also points out the limitations and future research direction.
