With the development of modern radar technology, radar is more complex in composition and function, and system debugging and testing are becoming more and more difficult. Meanwhile, the field testing and debugging experiments are expensive in cost and incomprehensive in results. With the advantages of economy, flexibility and repeatability, radar simulator has already become an indispensable part in modern radar research and design. In the process of digital array radar designing, the traditional radar simulator can’t meet the verification requirements, so special digital array radar simulator is urgently needed.In this paper, a display-control software and multi-channel intermediate frequency (IF) analog signal generating circuit have been designed and realized in the background of a IF semi-physical simulation system of a sub-array level digital array radar. The display-control software is developed in MFC of VC6.0 with 3D animation, which dynamically control the IF analog signal generating circuit to gemerate echo signals, including the targets, jammers and the noise. And the flying target trajectory is presented in 3D animation synchronously. Then, the target RCS glint characteristic and the deception jamming has been modeled, analyzed and realized in the IF analog signal generating circuit to improve the performance of the radar simulator.The debugging results of the subsystem show that, the display-control software can real-time control the multi-channel intermediate frequency (IF) analog signal generating circuit. And the whole sub-array level digital array radar simulation system can satisfy the test requirements of system function and performance, and can effectively verify the function and performance of the adaptive digital beamforming processor and the radar signal processor under the target searching、confirming and tracking statements.
