Since 1949, the small towns along the eastern coast of China have experienced evolution of the developing speed from slow to rapid, especially after the reform and opening up policy. The small towns in Su zhou developed very fast pushed by towns hip enterprises, forming a typical "Su nan model". This areas are the most typical and complexity areas of China’s small towns’spaital development. The article analysis spatial scale and development model , and the driving force which leading them in each history section, from the regional level and township level. The article analysis the logic relationship between the spatial development and the driving force mechanism, summing up the appropriate relationship of spatial development and the driving force mechanism and historical experience and deficiency. Then the article predicts development of power of small towns in Suzhou by the development of economic social and political of the future international and national context. The predicts are the basis of small towns’spatial optimization for the future.In the end the article proposes spatial optimization systems and policy recommendations in the new period of macroeconomic environment transformation and the market economical transition.
