Research Of Aluminum Formwork And Its Application In The High Building In Macau

Aluminum formwork system used as a kind of environmental protection and efficient formwork system, which is can be used many times. Since the aluminum formwork system was invented at American in 1962, the application history is more than 50 years. The system is not only popular in building works in the developed countries, like American, Canada and Europe, but also used in the newly industrialized countries, like Mexico, Brazil, Malaysia, Korea and India. And the system has been used in Hong Kong and Macau more than 10 years. At present, In China mainland, the system is mainly used in Pearl River Delta, Hunan, Hubei, Yunnan, Guangxi, Fujian and Southwest area.Compare the aluminum formwork system with timber formwork system, all the material and accessories can be used many times for aluminum formwork, there is no construction rubbish after removal of formwork, the construction environmental is safety, clean and tidy, the concrete surface is smooth and uniform, it is easy to install and dismantle the formwork, independent of the vertical transportation machinery, the support system of aluminum formwork is simple and can be used many times. If use aluminum formwork to substitute of timber formwork, a lot of timber will be saved, then the forest will be protected and the ecological equilibrium will be kept.As a project quantity surveyor, I participated in the high-rise hotel construction project in Macao. Based on the study of the application of aluminum formwork in this project, and through the introduction of design and construction of the aluminum formwork, and the research of how to deal with the formwork after the project completed, the advantage of the aluminum formwork have been revealed from the aspect of economic, duration and quality. Through the comparison the aluminum formwork system and traditional timber formwork system which is widely used in Macao, using specific data to demonstrate the superiority of the use of aluminum in high rise buildings, and put forward the suggestion of popularizing and developing aluminum formwork industry.
