| Under rapid expansion of city scale, modern cities start to pursue “rapid transitâ€,thus leading to sharp increase of cars and serious situation of heavy traffic and environmental pollution of cities. Slow traffic, a kind of short-distance “green†traffic model, not only can relieve heavy traffic of cities, but also meet diversified needs of leisure, fitness and sightseeing of people. So, it catches increasing attention. Urban waterfront space has numerous values in ecology, culture and landscape, whose reflection must depend on construction of waterfront slow-traffic system. Specially in mountainous cities with complicated terrains, where there is less city space suitable for slow-traffic activities. So, it is necessary to use waterfront space to create exceptional slow-traffic activity zone. Also, restrictions of mountainous terrain to waterfront slow-traffic activities make it necessary to shape a suitable slow-traffic system. So, the research on planning and design of slow-traffic system of waterfront space of mountainous cities has significant meaning for building a high quality waterfront slow-traffic system suitable to mountainous cities. With slow-traffic system for waterfront space of mountainous cities as research object, this paper adopted literature research, survey research, analysis, summary, and crossed research methods etc. to state its researches. By analyzing and summarizing related theories and combining them with field survey on waterfront slow-traffic system of downtown of Chongqing, this paper summarized and analyzed characteristics and problems of the system, based on which it proposed targeted strategies and methods for its planning and design and applied it into planning and design of slow-traffic system for waterfront zone at Golden Bay of Chongqing. Its core contents are indicated asfollows:First of all, it clarified related concepts like mountainous cities, waterfront space and slow-traffic system. By studying related domestic and foreign literature, it summarized related theories and current researches on slow-traffic system of waterfront space of mountainous cities, deeply analyzed its basic properties in such aspects as slow-traffic system’s functions, types, component factors and layout forms; and initially summarized main characteristics of the system.Secondly, in combination with theoretical research, it selected 6 typical waterfront slow-traffic systems of Yuzhong Distrct, Nan’an District, Jiangbei District, Jiulongpo District and Beibei District of Chongqing as research objects, conducted deep and meticulous survey in such aspects slow-traffic road network, slow-traffic connection,slow-traffic landscape and slow-traffic facilities, and summarized current situation and problems in slow-traffic system of waterfront space of mountainous cities. Then, targeted at currently existing problems, this paper proposed strategies for planning and designing slow-traffic system for waterfront space of mountainous cities in combination with related theories. At the level of slow-traffic road network, it discussed the main points in selecting slow-traffic nodes, reasonable interval of these nodes and strategies for even layout of these nodes; and proposed the strategies for optimizing slow-traffic path by adding construction of bike way in core zone and strengthening construction of vertical footpath in extended zone; and proposed strategies for improving slow-traffic network in two aspects: optimizing layout of horizontal road network and improving density of longitudinal road network. At the level of slow-traffic connection, it summarized the strategies of planning and design for adding bus stops of riverside Road, reasonably determining a reasonable distance of connection and strengthening connection of bikes with public transport. At the level of slow-traffic landscape, it proposed specific strategies for shaping featured and diversified slow-traffic landscape. At the level of slow-traffic facilities, it proposed guiding suggestions for determining position and form of bike parking facilities, location and forms of street facilities, and planning and design of symbolic facilities. At last, with planning and design of slow-traffic system for waterfront zone of Jinhaiwan of Chongqing(feature zone of Gorge river) as example, it verified strategies for planning and design of slow-traffic road network, slow-traffic connection,slow-traffic landscape and slow-traffic facilities via practice. |
