Design Method Research Of The Step In Urban Open Space

This paper is combined of two parts. The first is pictures of operational subjects and case studies and the second is the research report. It discusses the steps based on large amounts of case studies, analyses and induces the characteristics of steps from various perspectives and directions.The first chapter of the paper is an introduction which mainly introduces the background and origin of this topic、the related overseas and domestic research status, explaining the objectives and significance of the thesis and the research method and framework.The second chapter of the paper analyses and induces plenty of related cases and elaborates step function in landscape space based on the fundamental usage and the space design.The third chapter deconstructs and recombines the basic forms of step, inducing the morphological characteristics from different aspects, such as the form elements features、flat form features and the form changes with other landscape elements by the case study.The forth chapter analyses the spatial relationship between step and site space on the base of step’s function and form characteristics and discusses the design method of steps by operational subjects and typical cases.The epilogue summarizes the researches of this paper and sketches out the features of step application.
