| In recent years, China’s urbanization level increased rapidly. Urban construction has improved people’s living standards, however, some problems existed. On the one hand, streets living in the Chinese Traditional Pop Culture was swallowed by extensive road reconstruction projects and large-scale construction, which makes pedestrian "street" give way to traffic "road"; On the other hand, the unbalanced economic and social development leads to polarization, isolated urban space appears, social contradictions become more and more prominent. Therefore, inclusive development issues are widely recognized. In this condition, urban space, especially the living street development should focus on people’s usage and feeling.Taipei has already been in rapidly urbanization development stage since the 1960s. In urban planning, urban design, protection of cultural assets and other aspects, a relatively complete system was formed. In the 50 years’development, they have similar problems which exist in the Mainland now. Taipei has both successful experience and deficiencies. Cross-straits are under the same history and culture. Therefore, the design concepts and methods of city planning and architecture about Taiwan and Taipei are worth exploring. Especially in the protection of traditional streets and the design of new streets, we should make a comparative analysis under the background of same Chinese culture and learn from each other.Based on the concept of inclusive, this study sets the street, which is closely related to urban resident, as the object. Research methods including, takes the physical space and social environment of streets as study content, takes streets for life in central Taipei as field of investigation, makes the analysis of the relationship between material space form, functional morphology, social form, then put forward guiding principles and methods in reconstruction and design of streets for life. The results of the study contribute to the following aspects. Firstly, it reduce the richness and inclusiveness of street space in traditional Chinese culture and raise awareness of modern society on streets for life. It is suggested that street should be viewed as a comprehensive space that services multiple needs of human; Secondly, it changes the one-sided design principle that takes vehicles as a single indicator and riches street design principles and methods; Thirdly, based on the investigation and analysis of forming mechanism and law of development, this study proposes the mechanism that through top-down design guide and bottom-up amendment coordinate with each other; Finally, it embraces diversity and inclusive spirit, building impact system and strategy of inclusiveness, making urban construction and development benefit all the people. |
