With the development of economy,most developed countries and some developing countries has entered the post-industrial era. China’s economy and industry has undertaken a tremendous change. The tertiary industry of big cities is generally becoming the dominant industry instead of secondary industry. Because of the excessive industrialization, over-density of city population and the fast expansion of urban, the factories initially locates on the edges of cities now generally became factories in the cities. And those factories in the cities are fo rced to demolished and bankrupted, which resulted in the vacancy of city functions. Therefore, the reuse and protection of this region is urgent.This essay focuses on the practice. It will use the case study of Shou Gang to analyze China’s current phenomenon of factories in the cities. It explores the post-industrial landscape architecture design of the factories in the cities, and discuss several aspects like cities, society, venues and so on. This essay is dedicated to find ways to deal with the factorie s in the cities of Shou Gang macroscopical to microcosmic angles.Firstly, this essay will analyzes the geographical positions, history and venue characteristics of the No.1 and No.2 blast furnaces. It made clear the the demolition of Shou Gang and the eff ect of the city, explores the internal problems after the venues are idled. It studies the post-industrial landscape architecture design of China and abroad and analyzes the design ideas. Making that the premise, this essay has put forward four major stra tegies of exploitation of the post-industrial landscape architecture design of the factories in the cities of Shou Gang. It contains locations, strings, people and environment. Allocating the space of venues reasonably and increasing visit experiences and guiding the connections between theories and practice. After analyzing the theory, this essay combines researches outcomes and district design of Shou Gang and design the No.1 and No.2 blast furnaces to a deeper level. Reserving internal industrial archite cture and at the meantime, dedicated dealing with the relationship between venues and cities, increasing job opportunities and solving their own contradiction and finally findin g the solution suitable for the factories in the cities of Shou Gang. This essay discusses and find the solutions of factories in the cities with Chinese characteristic by designs and theory study.
