Research Of Roof Garden Landscape Design For Hospital

The density of buildings in towns is growing rapidly with the acceleration of urbanization in recent years,so the public buildings is developing towards altitude for more architectural space to ensure the space function of public space. As one of the public buildings that people often participate in,hospital can only develops aerial architecture because of their limited space. And aerial architecture is helpful to make each net area and usable area of beds accord with rigid index while the hospital scale is enlarged day by day. The high-rise developing on hospital illustrates that the higher the hospital built, the farther away the patient from the land and the fewer using conditions of green landscape space. With the improvement of the medical service level and the change of people’s health attitudes in our country, there’s the general problem of increasing demand for comfortable environment and serious inadequacy of land use for greening caused by high-rise development in hospital. Meanwhile, the idle of roof which called "the fifth elevation" forms a sharp contrast with the strained land using. The author took the roof garden of hospital as the breakthrough point for the remission of the shortage of green space and the demand of green space.In this paper, the social environment of urban development will be used as the research background, and the development of the roof garden of hospital will be combing. Moreover, in the thesis, the author summarized the function and classification of the roof garden for hospital, analyzed the relationship between the user’s landscape need, generalized the variety of sensory elements which can affect user’s experience in using, enriched people’s sense of the roof garden for hospital, provided the basis for the popularization and promotion of roof garden for hospital. Furthermore, the author combined with the years of work experience, sorted out the basic design principles and planning layout of roof garden for hospital, and started out some clear ideas for design work that roof design should be based on user-friendly design, with the attention to accessibility design, social centripetal space design, space design and feature-rich security and other elements in this special environment of hospital. The preliminary preparation for the design work and the main design points of hard landscape design and plant disposition are given out to promote the effective implementation of design tasks. Then the author further analyzed the background and connotation and principles of roof garden for hospital construction through cases in practice, including the roof garden of Clifford Hospital project and other two cases in China and foreign countries. Next introduced design features in cases, collected the feedback opinions, and summarized the design issues, pointed out the existing problems and its suggestion. Through these researches and discussions, it provides guidance of building roof garden for the high-rise hospital building. Finally, the users of the roof garden for hospital in the above cases have already given good reputations; the demand of patients was effectively met, which fully demonstrates the significance of building a garden on the roof of the hospital building.
