Research On The Design Of Garden

Garden,characterized as creating flowering plant landscape with color,texture,and seasonal variation,is one of the manifestations of landscape architecture.In the West,represented by the English landscape garden,garden has already had a stable creation model and landscape effect after a prolonged period of development.In the 19 th century,influenced by the "Chinese Vogue",English garden introduced and domesticated an abundant of Chinese plants,as well as learned the design concept from the Chinese natural Garden.In China,the classical Chinese garden has a long history and brilliant culture.However,the garden,which is mainly featured as flowering plant landscape,is rare,and researches on the design of garden are deficient.The thesis discusses the concept,extension and classification of garden,studies the case of Western and Chinese gardens,and thereby takes the garden design project as an example,further analyzing and summarizing the garden elements and design methods of garden,in order to provide certain references for the research of Chinese garden.First,through the tracing of the concept of garden and discrimination of related concepts,the connotation and extension of the concept of garden are discussed.Besides,the thesis also discussed the classification of garden based on the garden themes.Second,through the case study of Chinese and Western gardens,as well as the project practice of Hangzhou bay secret garden design,garden elements and design methods are analyzed and summarized:(1)It is proposed that garden is defined as a manifestation of landscape architecture which is a collection of elements as plant,landform,waterscape,architecture and sketch,and mainly constructed by sustainable,multi-layered and rich variety of plant landscape.(2)It is recommended to exploit color,form,texture,proportion of visual,seasonal variation,fragrance,combined with design methods as unity,balance,rhyme,emphasis and so on for mixed bed planting design.Besides,designing with flowing lawn space can also create moving scenery in sight.Moreover,the introduction,cultivation and promotion of new plant species should be valued so as to provide materials for garden plant landscape.(3)The garden should create variegated space through the rational distribution of plants,multi-layered landscape elevation through the vertical design,as well as various sceneries with changing view-points through the obstructing,framing,and borrowing.(4)The expression of culture and artistic conception should be emphasized in garden design,which is realized by employing painting,prose,poetry,music and other artistic expression to enhance the cultural and spiritual value of the garden.
