The Study On Roof Garden Design

With the rapid development of urban economy, people seem to overlook the urban ecological construction. As we know the problem of environmental pollution become increas ingly serious because of the industrial manufacture, Vehicle exhaust emissions, prevalence of air conditioning and so on. But erecting buildings needs a lot of green area, so that we must find out a new space to add greenery to a limited urban space, and improve the environment.Somebody regard the rooftop as the "ifth surface" of the building, and the "fifth surface" either is discarded and idle, or is used for accumulating litters. If we can effectively make the "fifth surface"into use, by designing a roof garden, it would alleviate shortage of land in a great extent, increase the urban green area, ameliorate the living conditions, improve the quality of life, expand the urban outdoor living space, and provide people with new lives and leisure venues.Green roof garden is different from the ground, which are more restrictive conditions. It is important to choose suitable plants to grow, which is based on the structural characteristics of the building, the maximum loading capacity, and the environmental conditions of the rooftop. under the premise of safety, design an outdoor space which contains ecology, art, function, economy, and cultural connotations.This thesis, firstly, makes a brief introduction about the concept of a roof garden and exposit its classification, historical development and the effect. Then, in order to clear elements of the roof garden design, I combined with domestic and international cases to analyze which style that you should choose for your roof garden when you face different functions or different types of consumer groups. Furthermore, this article will have a macro study about design concepts, design principles and design methods, then having a micro study by doing the classified and fixed-point research. All of the study will Combine with the theoretical research and practical demonstration. In particular the analysis of differences between the north and the south roof garden design, and differences between high-rise buildings and low-rise buildings about roof garden design, which can help us to have an in-depth study and then come up with principles of the roof garden landscape design. In addition, this thesis based on the current technology infrastructure of the green roof, specifically addressed the related of saving energy and improving the balance of ecology about the green roof. Finally, directing at the case,"Hangzhou Tian Chen International roof garden" and having a specific research, then summarize the issues, making a better grasp of the roof garden design and prospecting trends of the roof garden.
