With its business function as the priority, the rise of traditional bazaar mainly aimed to meet the needs for gathering and distribution of merchandise in rural areas. Hence, the bazaar emerged on basis of the "market" and prospered due to the "market". This "market" in the thesis refers to transaction space. As a major part of the bazaar spatial structure, such traditional transaction space fully displayed the vigorousness and distinct value of bazaars and showed its spatial dominant position. The form of present transaction space takes shape by drawing the essence from thousands of years of history. It is considered as the direct representation of the society, economy, culture and communication activities in traditional agricultural area around Sichuan Province. It is also a long-term and dynamic growth process.With continuous acceleration of urban and rural integration, traditional bazaars in area around Sichuan province are confronted with such crises as serious constructive damages and cultural implication losses. Hence, it is necessary and urgent to protect and inherit the traditional bazaars in the basic level. This thesis took the area around Sichuan Province as the regional research background, "transaction space" as the research perspective and traditional bazaars as research objects, so as to carry out the in-depth analysis of the specific rules of the traditional transaction space evolution by researching the evolution process of traditional transaction space in area around Sichuan Province. It also came up with protection measures by inferring out the external influence factors and internal dominant mechanism which affected its spatial development. This thesis aims to explore a basic way to protect traditional bazaars in area around Sichuan Province, so as to further enrich the theoretical system about protection and planning of traditional bazaars in area around Sichuan Province and offered support to relevant practice.
