With the increasingly rapid economic development as well as the demand for project constructions, shield tunneling plays an important role in the tunnels, rail transportation and so on. Cutter head plays a key role in the overall shield device system, which has excavation and support the tunneling interface. Reasonable cutter design is the premise of efficient driving decisions and determined the success of the project. Based on substantial literature and project information, the selection of the tools, the arrangement law of cutters and the evaluation of the cutter are studied.The main research work can be summarized as follows:For the geological applicability of shield cutting tools configuration, the neural network intelligent configuration method based on hybrid algorithm PSO-BP is proposed and the relationship model between geological conditions and the type of the cutting tool is established. According to the successful construction in the past as sample to train the model, the trained model can achieve intelligent recommendation for shield cutting tools. The test results show that this configuration method has good effect on configuration selection of shield cutter, and the PSO-BP neural network algorithm has significantly improvement in terms of accuracy and training time than the original BP neural network algorithm.For the features of composite soil pressure balance shield, the arrangement law of the disc cutter and cutter are studied, and the cutter are arranged and optimized.Disc cutter arrangement is on the basis of meeting the requirements of cutter geometry and mechanical constraints balance, and established tools arrangement optimization model to meet the various constraints. PSO multi-objective optimization algorithm is adopted to solve the model. Cutter arrangement is from the cutter overall force and laid out a method based on Archimedes spiral. Finally, the results of the simulation analysis is arranged by ANSYS Workbench finite element software. The method arrangement is validate reasonable and effective, so that optimization program is more in line with the actual needs of the project.Considering multilevel nature of the cutter performance factors, we establish the cutter performance evaluation system based on disc cutter structural properties, cutter layout and mechanical properties. Fuzzy analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy TOPSIS method are combined to establish the performance evaluation model cutter and determine evaluation approach for cutter. Selecting before and after optimization of the Dongguan Metro composite EPB shield machine evaluated and determined the final program. Finally, using C# language develop cutter performance evaluation system.
