With superior performance, epoxy asphalt has highly competitive compared to other materials, but its technical complexity and high economic cost hinder the popularization and application of epoxy asphalt. In view of these, the paper put forward to deploying epoxy asphalt and thermoplastic bitumen, expecting to obtain economically viable asphalt with excellent road service performance. To mix asphalt(MEA) properties studying as the target, starting with deployment crafts, considering different blending types and ratio of thermoplastic asphalt, the article thoroughly explored the properties variation of binder and asphalt, finalized the affordable type of MEA.Firstly, the paper elaborated the differences of epoxy asphalt and thermoplastic bitumen on the composition and structure; On the basis of preferring types of raw materials and determining research contents of deployment process, direct tensile strength, breaking elongation and softening point difference were taken as control index, to clear the influence of blending sequence, stirring method, mixing time and mixing temperature on performance of the MEA, and determine the best deployment crafts.Secondly, taking type and proportion of thermoplastic asphalt as the control variable, direct tensile test was done to evaluate strength and deformation characteristics of MEA binder. The results showed that when a high proportion of asphalt, the crosslinking intensity of system become weaker. The viscosity-time curve was tested to establish the viscosity growth model based on the Roller equation, and determine the construction time of the mixture based on the viscosity-time curve.In addition, starting with the mix proportion design of MEA mixture, the variation of the physical parameters of the mixture were explored, the results showed that the optimum asphalt content decreased with bitumen content increasing, and porosity gradually increased. A series of tests were done to explore the affect of the type and content of thermoplastic asphalt on the basic mechanical, durability and stability properties of MEA mix. The results showed that the incorporation of thermoplastic asphalt caused attenuation of strength and modulus, improvement of deformation capacity and little effect on water stability and high temperature stability.Finally, significant test was conducted on the influence of control variables on performance indicators of MEA mixture by ONE-WAY ANOVA and TWO-WAY ANOVA. The results showed that the impact of asphalt proportion on MEA performance is more significant than type. According to the technology requirements of steel deck epoxy asphalt concrete pavement, the article proposed that the blending upper limit of 70# and 90# thermoplastic asphalt were 28% and 27%, which reduced the economic cost of 24.2% and 23.8% respectively.
