Epoxy asphalt is referred to as epoxy resin modified bituminous, it is the polymermodified asphalt, having the advantages of high strength, fatigue resistance, and stableperformance. However, the compatibility of epoxy resin and asphalt is not good andeasy to rattle at low temperature,lacking of toughness。One of the problems to be solved toimprove the toughness of epoxy asphalt,This article through experimental researchand development of a new toughened epoxy asphalt for bridge expansion joint repair,improve the service life of bridge expansion joints.In this paper, on the basis of theoretical analysis and literature review, the use ofthe new system, the screening of raw materials, the use of base asphalt, epoxy resin(containing curing agent), styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS), liquidcoumarone indene resin, C5/C9and compatibility agent prepared toughened epoxyasphalt. Proofreading toughened epoxy asphalt,using viscosity test to study therheological properties of the epoxy asphalt curing process,determination the heatingtemperature of development research toughened epoxy asphalt is120℃. Researchtoughened epoxy asphalt viscosity growth characteristics under120℃. Determine theremaining time of epoxy asphalt mixture is30min based on the viscosity growthcharacteristic. Then study the high temperature stability of toughened epoxy asphaltmixture-60℃dynamic stability is10788time/mm, low temperature crackresistance-maximum bending strain at-10℃is2350、failure strength is12.67MPa、Bending stiffness modulus is5391MPa; water stability-TSR is89.4%、96h residualstrength ratio is98.0%.In Wenshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province, Yanshan County highway, Toughenedepoxy asphalt repair bridge expansion,Up to now been in operation for almost a yearand a half, still showed excellent road performance, validated toughened epoxy asphaltstrong impact, overweight move under the harsh conditions of the Dutch hightoughness, high adhesion and high strength. Extend the service life of the bridgeexpansion joints, reducing repair inaccessible, reducing the high maintenance costs,and achieved good social and economic benefits, and similar future repair of the bridgeexpansion joints with the reference value.
