As the traffic construction gradually transfers to the mountain and water areas with more complex engineering conditions,the number of mountain roads,cross-sea bridges and deep water projects,offshore projects are increasing,and the proportion of highway bridges and tunnels have increased significantly,long-span steel bridges and specia]roads pavement are growing in number as well as,which sets a higher demands for better pavement performance and service life.Epoxy asphalt,a thermosetting material,is known to possess high strength,high stiffness,and good bond with aggregate or steel plates,high chemical resistance,good temperature performance,as well as good deformation cooperation deformation cooperation,being superior to the road performances material and service life of traditional pavement asphalt.In 1966,California San Mateo Hayward Bridge,the first epoxy asphalt paved bridge,located in the United States San Francisco Bay,has served more than 50 years;the first epoxy asphalt paved bridge in China is the Nanjing Yangtze River Second Bridge.It has maintained a good pavement performance for more than ten years.However,short reserved time of epoxy asphalt cannot allow long construction time and requires rigorous construction conditions.Besides,due to the excessively high high material costs,technical confidentiality and other reasons,the promotion and application of epoxy asphalt is seriously restricted.This paper intends to solve the two major issues that restrict the promotion and application of epoxy asphalt,that is,the excessively high material costs and the rigorous construction conditions.By developing compatibilizer,the amount of epoxy resin greatly reduces,while the performances change very little,therefore the issue of high costs of epoxy resin can be solved effectively.Post doping method,an innovatory construction technology,greatly reduces the impact of construction conditions,making the quality of the project easier to ensure,solving the problem of limited application scope and laying a solid foundation for large-scale promotion.The main conclusions are shown as follows.1.Based on the characteristics of multi-component of asphalt as well as co-blending and composite interface theory,the essential characteristics of poor compatibility of epoxy asphalt are revealed.Epoxy asphalt compatibilizer is developed,which gives an effective solution to the problem of epoxy asphalt compatibility.The road performances of self-made epoxy asphalt is close to The widely-used Japanese TAF epoxy asphalt and the US ChemCo epoxy ashalt,when its content is only 8%,which significantly reduces the costs of material and solves effectively The high expense problem of epoxy asphalt.2.Using self-made epoxy asphalt for the preparation of epoxy asphalt mixture,testing and evaluation of the road performances of epoxy asphalt mixture are systematically carried out indoors.According to the results of tests,the performances of self-made epoxy asphalt mixture are equivalent or superior to the performances of mainstream epoxy asphalt,which meets the technical requirements in "Road and Bridge Pavement with Epoxy Asphalt Material Technical Requirements "(GB/T 30598-2014).3.In view of three factors including the mixing time,mixing temperature and epoxy resin content,we carried out orthogonal test and used road performance tests to verify the feasibility of "post-doping method".The current traditional process is,before transported to the site of pavement,aggregate is mixed and stirred with the mixture of epoxy asphalt A component and B component.While in revolutionary technology,component B is firstly mixed with aggregate,and then after the mixture is transported to the site,component A is added accurately,and this is followed by decking and rolling.This new technology avoids the problems caused by the chemical reaction between component A and component B,reducing the difficulty of construction and expanding the application scope of epoxy asphalt despite short reserving time.4.The study on the growth of epoxy asphalt viscosity,epoxy asphalt mixture retention time,the discharge temperature,the law of strength growth and construction impacts caused by adverse weather conditions has been conducted.The construction quality control standard of post doping method of epoxy asphalt is put forward,which provides data support for the implementation of the project.5.The research results were applied to Yunnan Songming(Xiaopu)to Kunming(Wulong)Expressway expansion project to the Tu'er section-Jinzhongshan cable pavement project for the physical application of this research results for engineering practice.
