In recent years, with the development of social and economic, the quality of life has brought continuous improvement of people’s life expectancy. The issue of how to take care of the elderly has become more and more important. On one hand the limited medical resources for the elderly will aggravate the costs of long-term care. On the other hand the traditional physiological monitoring system requires care workers to operate,which is inconvenient to use.The body sensor networks(BSN) can be applied to save nursing time from elderly care from the human, thus easing the financial burden for the family.Firstly, this thesis analysed the existing network communication technologies for BSN, including ZigBee communication, Bluetooth communication and WiFi communication. After taking a consideration of the different features in communication performance, communication coexistence capabilities, data security and communications power consumption of these communication technologies, the fabric-based ring-bus "3-layer" Application Health Network service architecture has been designed to meet the requirements of BSN monitoring.Secondly, we designed the hardware design of the BSN monitoring platform.The hardware system consists of a physiological parameter sensor and motion sensor sensing parameters, of which the sensing physiological parameters completed ECG, QRS signal, temperature signal, pulse signal, the oxygen sensor signal and heart rate signal, motion parameters, including the acceleration signal, angular acceleration signal and the pressure signal.Then, the remote monitoring system for the elderly care has been designed, including PC care centers, care centers and mobile platforms remote monitoring center. By describing the principle of the monitoring center, The main functions of the monitoring system have been analyzed by describing the principle of the monitoring center.Finally, the systematic testing experiments have been conducted to verify the solution of the BSN monitoring platform. The results of these experiments show the sensors we designed work well, meanwhile the remote monitoring system can display these BSN signals dynamically.As the background of the elderly care, this thesis describes the details of how to sensing the BSN signals by sensor nodes,which have small volume, low power consumption and of course low cost.By the seamless connection of remote monitoring system,the BSN signals can be transmite remotely,display and save in history, also the design of the electric fabric line improves the wearing comfort degree. The elderly care platform designed in this thesis can provide an important reference for the design of the elderly health monitoring system.
