At the rate of global warming affecting the tropical nations, we need to be ready to weather the shocks of climate change and built more resilient design for long-term survival. The looming factors that influence mass housing, be social or private is in dire need for a resilient approach to adaptation to the local climate context and conditions. Seychelles housing is no particular case as is viewed as a standout amongst the most helpless sectors in Seychelles and the problematic observed at cluster levels due to lack of responsive strategies. However, high technological standards and globalization acclaimed that housing areas are associated with primitive and patented elementary. In the Seychelles, the population admired the technology standards and design characters that are more often not overlooking from the preceding traditional architecture. These have resulted; in some housing that is not able to response well to the climate context they build in or have little compassion for the local culture established within.Seychelles is experiencing a tropical climate that historically experienced its portion of universal housing design that has resulted in a mix of imported design that lacks the traditional design characters, which is slowly phased out the current supposedly prestigious models. To investigate the houses environment performance, the research attempt to understand the ’responsive concept’of design that geared towards the relationship between’nature and houses.’ It set the foundation that two principles parameters of climate influence the built form and fabric This research focused on a plethora of evidence about an existing housing, development in the Seychelles; nonetheless, the study on housing and the forthcoming proposals are geared towards the preservation of traditional architecture character. Any imported design should, therefore, respect the culture and tradition of a particular place and not imposed thoughtlessly. The primary methods employ to investigate this research focal point comprises a case studies review, with the same aim towards climate response situation in the summer. The study included some participation of the local community and government institutions. A survey questionnaire was considered and administered to the Perseverance housing estate dwellers. Results collected, were carefully analyzed and were used to form the research results and recommendation. The goal of this research is to determine to supposedly by improving housing design and built environment, primarily through climate responsive housing design principles, developed a novel tropical modular house and the preservation of traditional architecture character which aims to answer some of these shortcomings and provide and solution within a changing tropical climate towards, climate resilient. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Traditional character, Housing, Climate response, Resilient housing, Tropical Architecture, Perseverance Housing | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
