Study Of The Dongxiang Traditional Housing In A Typological Way

The development of modern architecture is showing the diversity of its feature. Every nation every country in this world have their own unique culture. The local housing which have its national characteristics and can be adapted to the natural environment become the best kind of residential building that is worth being promoted. In this thesis, the traditional housing of Dongxiang Nation is studied as the research object, using the architectural typology method to analyze its background and factors influencing, and with field research in Guoyuan Village, prototype of the regional traditional housing is summarized, combined with modern architecture concepts, construction techniques and materials, the prototype is deformed and reconstructed, so that the new architecture form adapted more to the local contemporary rural production and living way. This thesis discusses how the Dongxiang traditional housing transform and develop in order to reduce the conflicts between traditional lifestyle and new rural communities and to make them mutual harmony under the background of our new era. It is of great help to the new rural construction.The thesis is divided into three parts.Part One, introduces formation and development of the Dongxiang traditional housing, and its natural and cultural background.Part Two, choose the representative Guoyuan village to conduct field research, typology analysis on the aspects of the planar morphology, composition of the facade and the form of construction to find out the prototype of the Dongxiang traditional housing.Part Three, combine the elements of the prototype of the Dongxiang traditional housing which can be extended with modern architectural features to regroup and make it a new kind of residential building suitable for the contemporary production method and lifestyle, and solve problems of Dongxiang residential housing during the contemporary transformation process.
