| With the social development and technological progress, the financial industry has become increasingly dependent on data processing for operation, and its dependency on the IT system has increased correspondingly. In the meantime, it has also become increasingly important to provide the physical environment of IT system—the data center. However, disaster is lurking around the company like the dust, such as unpredictable equipment damage, outage, fire, natural disaster and terrorist attack. Therefore, related departments have pointed out that the data center of financial industry should realize “two locations and three centers†a long time ago, and in addition to current main production data center, the financial companies should also build one backup center for disaster recovery in the same city and one in another city, in this way to ensure the security, continuity and high usability of businesses and important information. With the construction project of a bank’s backup center for disaster recovery in the same city as example, this paper has studied the control of project progress. Progress control is one of the important contents in project management, which is one of the three goals—project cost, progress and quality, and it is one central task in the construction project management to implement effective control of the construction project progress to make it smoothly reach the predetermined goal. The quality of project progress control will have direct impact on the success of project. If the progress control of project is scientific and reasonable, it will generate direct economic benefits for the company, which will also build the corporate image and win reputation for the company at the same time. On the contrary, if the project progress is not well controlled, in addition to project failure, delay of construction period and damage to the corporate image, it will also cause certain economic loss, even high economic compensation. Therefore, the control of project progress plays a very important role in the whole project.This construction project of backup center for disaster recovery had a tight schedule, a high standard and certain difficulties. In this paper, through breakdown of the project of backup center for disaster recovery and the definition and sequencing of project activities, the schedule was made, related negative factors that could affect the progress were found, through continuous comparison between the actual project progress and the schedule, the deviation in project schedule was found and corrected, and the project was finally completed in accordance with the schedule. The practicality and feasibility of introducing the theory of project progress control into the construction project of backup center were verified. |
