The economy of China has been rapid development since entering the 21st century and the investment of infrastructure construction has been increased constantly. the mileage of highway construction has increased year by year, especially the high-grade asphalt pavement mileage increasing rapidly. Currently, a lot of asphalt pavement has been faced rebuilding or overhaul, which indicates that the road construction of China has entered the period of building and curing and how to recycle the old asphalt pavement mixture better has become one of the major road construction project. Cold recycling technology as one of renewable technology, which has been payed attention from various countries because of its many advantages, has been used gradually in asphalt pavement repairing, and the cold recycling stabilizer is a significant factor of the technology. This paper presents a new type of cold recycling stabilizers — aqueous epoxy emulsified asphalt, which is modified by adding aqueous epoxy resin in emulsion asphalt with suitable proportion, and the performance of the cold recycling asphalt mixture can be improved.Firstly, the performance of emulsion asphalt modified by aqueous epoxy resin was evaluated by the paper, and then the AC-20 cold recycled asphalt mixture mix design of mixing 90% and 70% RAP by emulsion asphalt modified by mixing 0%, 10%,20% and 30% aqueous epoxy resin,were carried out the splitting test, compressive resilient modulus test, rutting test, low temperature bending test, freeze-thaw splitting test and fatigue tests to verify the performance of different RAP content and epoxy resin content, in-depth studying the mechanical properties and road performance and getting the using performance variation of recycled mixture of different epoxy resin content and RAP content.Summing up the test results can obtain that the strength of the epoxy emulsified asphalt cold recycled asphalt mixture is far greater than the technical requirement of the regeneration specification. Compared with the ordinary emulsified asphalt, the water epoxy emulsified asphalt makes the recycled mixture have better mechanical properties and in aspects of road performance, especially in high-temperature stability and water stability improving significantly, and in the low temperature crack resistance and fatigue performance having little effect, which indicating that epoxy emulsified asphalt can be applied in cold recycling pavement completely.
