Low power Line Communication (L-PLC) automatic meter reading(AMR) system is an intelligent management system with energy measurement , data acquisition and processing, which takes the low-power line as the media in communication, and uses sensing, communication, computer network technology to read and deal with the users' power information. As noise and attenuation characteristics of L-PLC make communication distance shorter and reliability variation,a routing algorithm which could search relaying notes to forwarding data would be adopted, and realizes the communication between source and destination nodes. This paper designs and implements a routing algorithm based on clustering dynamic routing for L-PLC automatic meter reading, and puts forward experimentation of network building with six notes. Through the experimental results show that the algorithm could automatically inspect nodes which can execute communication directly, build dynamic network routing, search relay nodes and finish the communication.Firstly, the L-PLC automatic meter reading system is introduced, and the network topology of this system is analyzed. Then we make a brief description of relay technology which applies to this system. Secondly, elaborates on the principle of clustering algorithms, as well as the principle and simulation of overlapping clustering algorithm which is improved. Thirdly, describes detailed the routing algorithm of L-PLC automatic meter reading system from the hardware design and software, which focuses on the software programming of overlapping clustering algorithm. In the end, experiment of overlapping clustering routing algorithm in real environment of L-PLC is tested, and communication of the whole system under the routing algorithm is accomplished.
