The maintenance of electric power equipment is one of the most important production activities of Power Grid Corp. With the continuous expansion of the scale of the power grid, there are more and more power equipment. This has brought more workloads. At the same time, with the continuous development of the maintenance mode, the current plan maintenance mode cannot adapt to the needs of the construction and development of smart grid, and the implementation of status maintenance has become one of the critical tasks. Under the background that the China State Grid Corp has been carrying out the "Big Overhaul", the management of the overhaul puts forward higher requirements. In order to further change the traditional maintenance management mode, as far as possible to create more value, the concept of lean maintenance is more and more attention. The lean maintenance can optimize maintenance flows, improve maintenance efficiency, optimize the allocation of resources, stimulate the vitality of the power grid enterprises, enhance the innovation ability of enterprises, and enhance the management level, so as to increase enterprise benefit.The research background of this topic is explained; the research status and development trend of lean management at home and abroad, and its application in power grid maintenance are explained. The paper describes the connotation of lean management and management styles, and the basic principle and hierarchy, and the analysis methods. Then, the paper describes the changes of the power grid maintenance model, from failure repair to planned repair, and to condition-based maintenance and compares the three modes. Then, this paper studies the Lean Maintenance Model of Jinhua power grid, analyzes the current situation of Jinhua power grid maintenance management, and puts forward the existing problems. And then the paper illustrates the implementation of lean management in Jinhua power grid maintenance, including the main content of lean management, objectives and the implementing methods. And the paper studies the implementation of lean management in Jinhua power grid, including lean management hierarchy building, and the optimizations of repair schedule’s management flows and of condition-based maintenance’s strategy, and the lean management of other repair management including equipment files management, test information of equipment, spare parts management, and etc. Lean management is a long process of practice, and it needs to be explored continuously. The time for lean management of power grid maintenance is not long, and more effort to achieve the good results must be done. Finally, the main transformer Lean Maintenance Model Based on AHP is established which illustrates the application of AHP in Lean Maintenance of main transformer.Through the study of Jinhua power grid maintenance situation and lean maintenance mode, and exploration and practice of Lean Maintenance in Jinhua power grid, establishing the corresponding management system, taking specific measures for implementation, the maintenance mode of Jinhua power grid has changed from extensive to lean, which proves that the effectiveness of lean management in power grid maintenance. The maintenance of lean management further enhances the Jinhua power grid maintenance management level and improves the maintenance of economic benefits.
