| Based on the Wuxi’s excellent classical garden art and the transformation of modern garden which is representative, Wuxi’s modern landscape architecture are exhibiting a new morphology and new system for its historical background. Meanwhile, it is important to constitute Wuxi as a contemporary landscape garden city. According to a full investigation, this paper is classified on Wuxi’s typical landscape architecture from 1949 to now, analyses its historical origins and the development course of landscape architecture in Wuxi, then concludes and summarizes the design characteristics of Wuxi’s modern landscape architecture from the point of functional transformation, cultural inheritance of garden, regional characteristics and so on. Therefore, to rich the theoretical construction of Wuxi’s garden history and have practical meaning to Wuxi’s landscape architecture development. Finally to make a preliminary summary.Through the induction, analysis and summary, the paper obtains a certain value of research results:1. Systematic reviews the modernistic development course, creation of foundation and dominant factor of Wuxi modern gardens from 1949 to 2014.2. Made a systematic analysis of Wuxi modern landscape practice results and the types and characteristics between different landscape types.3.Discussed the design art of Wuxi regional characteristics from three aspects of address chosen, site design, planning and layout form,design elements and landscape.4.
