How to obtain the data from different ways and analysis, has become a new research direction.At the same time, The urban planning get the point from the incremental planning into the inventory planning.City’s Old Townin particular the Historic District has become the focus of inbentory planning.History of blocks representing the context of urban development, and is the material carriers which reflected the characteristics about city.Nowadays Historic District’s protecting and updating focus on the materical and less attention to neighborhood vitality, the main reason is limited to data obtain. Explore Big Data used in the study of social activity of the historic district, to make the balance and win between the materical protecting and cativity updating.Firstly,the concept,content and relevant theory of historic district are described in the article.Then,take the nanning historical block as an example,it’s based on the big data and traditional data to analysis the status about historic district.In the big data,It’sthrough web crawler technology and screen shots to collection thetext data, POI data and traffic information and analysising this data to grasp the status of the historic district from social activities;In traditional data, It’s through field research, literature query to ccessing data, in order to grasp the cultural historical value from the historic district.The protecting of History environment, the mining of history culture, activating the vibrant of neighborhood and optimizating the neighborhood environment are included in Historic District protecting and updates.
