Study On The Protection And Renewal Of The Historic Blocks In Theold District Of Taiyuan From The Angel Of Cutural Genes

Culture development and transmission has become the priority of protection andrenewal of historic blocks in this world of fast urbanization. This thesis is based on thetheory of culture genes, with culture genes as a whole new study angel, thorough thestudy of the Taiyuan historic district culture genes, obtaining the ideas about culturetransmission protection and renewal and completing the plan and design. This researchtakes case study as a start, aiming at broadening the horizon meanwhile deepening thedepth of the study of historic blocks protection and renewal.Taiyuan, as one of the cradles of Chinese civilization, enjoys long and deeptraditional culture. And the old district, as the witness of the subsidence of the urbanculture, is very representative. This thesis takes the multidisciplinary combination,induction, seduction and empirical study as main research methods. Through theanalogy with biological genes, cultural genes can be more deeply unscrambled.According to the forms of the carriers in the historic district, cultural genes are definedas dominant, recessive and behavioral. Then we interrupt the features, functions andmeanings of the cultural genes in the protection and renewal. By this way we couldobtain the most essential and typical cultural genes in the transmission of the Taiyuanhistoric district culture more exactly. According to the status quo of the cultural genes ofthe historic blocks in the old district of Taiyuan and the analysis of similar domesticcases, we finally get some inspirations about the protection and renewal from the angelcultural genes and set up a more comprehensive system of up-dating thinking andprotection. So the whole process from carrier unscrambling, to cultural genes extracting,to planning and designing and finally to realizing culture transmission can be completed. Based on the study plan above, the thesis is divided into six chapters.Chapter One，Rearrange and sum up the related materials and documents, definethe concepts of the study subject--historic cultural blocks and the study angel—culturalgenes and decide the study methods and frame based on the analysis of the status quo ofrelated researches at home and abroad.Chapter Two，Starting with the concept origin, features, classifications, functionsand performance of the cultural genes theory, we deeply dig and analyze the value ofthe cultural genes carrier in the historic blocks, conclude the important meaning of thecultural genes theory in the protection and renewal of the historic blocks and preparetheory evidence for further research combining with the application methods of relatedtheories.Chapter Three，Analyze the cultural genes of the two historic blocks in the olddistrict of Taiyuan in stages and structures and extract the cultural genes as humanism,historical culture, architectural culture and genius loci.Chapter Four，Analyze and conclude the status quo of the cultural genes in the olddistrict of Taiyuan, compare the development modes of the domestic historic blocks,then get some inspirations and ideas about the protection and renewal of historic blocksin the old districts and finally achieve the goal.Chapter Five，Through the deep analysis of the design example of Dongsandaolane historic block in the old district of Taiyuan, we hope to make a meaningfulexploration of the plan and design of the protection and renewal of the historic blocksguided by the cultural genes theory.Chapter Six，Summarize the whole thesis: sum up the main innovation points andconclusions and propose some pointed suggestions to the defects.
