| As the gather places of material and cultural relics and intangible cultural heritage, historic districts of historic cities, which are non-renewable historical resources, are vectors of urban civilization. Only when the historical relics, building styles, cultural symbols and folk custom are well protected can the historical context be continued and the ancient civilization be passed down. Historic cities are also the living space of citizens and the vectors of economic development, therefore, the protection and utilization, reconstruction and rehabilitation of the city should be strengthened to promote the sustainable development of urban economy and the sustainable development of urban culture and society and to make the cities not only with cultural charm, but also full of vigor and vitality.This paper chooses Yangzhou old city as a study object, tries to research its protection and renewal mode and analyze the sustainability of its development.The paper researches from the angle of the historic districts'land properties, landscape, the protection and renewal of the historical and cultural resources. There are totally 6 chapters as follows:Chapter 1 is the introduction part. It firstly introduces the background, the purpose and meaning, the methods and ideas of the research; secondly mainly elaborates the related concepts and theories in the paper, which include the concept of historic district and historic block, the related theory of city protection and renewal, historical district, and sustainable urban development; and then briefly introduces the research status quo so as to provide a theoretical basis for the following research of the protection and renewal of Yangzhou historical districts.Chapter 2 investigates and analyzes the status of the old city, which includes the background overview, the old city overview and the reform status of the old city recent years. It also investigates and analyzes Yangzhou historical districts status, which includes the protection division of the historical districts, the land nature, landscape, historical and cultural resources, and so on.Chapter 3 has a comprehensive analysis of the protection and renewal of Yangzhou historical districts, which includes the aspects of objectives and principles, the methods and measures, the content, and the key sections.Chapter 4 takes the construction of Grand Canal Cultural Park and the transformation of the jiaochang historical district as examples to have an analysis and discussion of the transforming practice recent years.Chapter 5 gives advice and shows prospects for the sustainability of the protection and renewal of Yangzhou historical districts, which mainly include the aspects of natural resources and environment, the economy and the society.The last chapter concludes the whole paper as a conclusion part. |
