Interpretation On Character Of The Japanese Contemporary Architectural Space On The Time Dimension

In recent years, with the contemporary Japanese architects repeatedly won Pritzker Prize, Japanese contemporary architecture gets more and more attention, especially the creation of architectural space is becoming a new hotspot. But throughout the current research results, we can see an important dimension missing -time. Architectural space is not static, it generates or dies, integrates or updates with time, so time is the root concept of architectural space creation motivation. Re-examine the spatial characteristics of contemporary Japanese architecture based on the time dimension, not only helps to understand contemporary Japanese design philosophy, but also to inspire creative thinking of contemporary space.Therefore, with time as a starting point, this thesis summarizes the characteristics of time in Japan and elaborates them one by one on traditional cultural background and contemporary background. On this basis, combined with case studies, this thesis inducts and deduces spatial characteristics of contemporary Japanese architecture from three aspects:spatial composition, spatial origin of the three aspects.This thesis is divided into four parts. The first part arranges of the source of Japan’s concept of time on traditional cultural background and contemporary social context, and sums up the main features of the Japanese concept of time:the dynamic time pattern, vague time constitutes, natural time origin. Based on the integration of space and time in Japanese culture, the time characteristics is translated into spatial characteristics:adaptive spatial modes, ambiguous spatial configuration and natural space origin. The second part interprets the adaptive feature of contemporary Japanese architectural space model, and analyzes it from the passive dynamic and active dynamic. This space model can adapt to the changing external environment and needs. The third part interprets the fuzzy characteristics of contemporary Japanese architectural space configuration, and analyzes it from the space interface, space path and space fill. This space configuration creates unique and rich experience of space. The fourth part interprets the natural characteristics of contemporary Japanese architectural space origin, and analyzes it from construction of natural scene and creation of natural phenomenon. This space origin of space makes the building in harmony with nature, showing a natural life-like vitality.Overall, this thesis deeply analyzes and interprets the spatial characteristics of contemporary from theoretical construction and cases interpretation in view of time. The part of conclusion innovatively summarize and analyze from contemporary Japanese architecture creative ideas for contemporary Chinese architecture creation instructive.
