With the rapid development of China’s urban rail transportation, it has been more than 100 operating rail transit lines, which are consisted of over 3000 kilometers. At the same time, prominent technology offers increasing products and measures for rail transit, which is beneficial for construction and operation greatly. Advantages of rail transit, such as fast, comfortable, safe, reliable and eco-firiendly, have been changing daily life, boosting the development of cities.In this paper, the rail transit discussed is a comprehensive urban infrastructure projects which has the largest investment, the longest construction duration, and the most sections involved. Appropriate project management is essential for the construction. Furthermore, an increasing quality of schedule management is significant for entering into operation in the correct timing, with the expected quality and functions. The main task of the schedule management consists of two key missions:schedule planning and schedule control. The expected goal will be realized finally, guided by a reasonable schedule and other appropriate management methods.The paper focuses on the electromechanical engineering of a city’s rail transit project. A theory is introduced and applied on the schedule management of the electromechanical engineering involved.Firstly, the paper introduces the basic theory of electromechanical engineering and current methods of schedule management, analyzes a series of problems in the process of schedule management in depth.Secondly, the paper presents a new method on optimizing schedule management. By invoking appropriate theories of schedule management, the method consists of three types of optimization:on the goals of schedule management by analyzing the final targets, the standards and the major midterm goals of a rail transit project; on the schedule planning in a particular sequence given by the project activity breakdown, the project activity sequencing, the project activity duration estimating and the project planning formation; on schedule control in a particular sequence given by researching the flowchart, the real inspection, the deviation analysis and timely adjustment.Finally, the paper summaries a series of measures, involving organization, management, technology and economics, to ensure that the new method can form a foundation for the rail transit project entering into operation successfully, and to provide reference for similar electromechanical engineering in rail transit project.
