Beginning in the 1970s, grid harmonic problems aroused people’s attention. In recent years, because of the need of science and technology and industrial development, power system more and more access to high-capacity electric arc equipment, rectifier commutation equipment and other non-linear loads. Power supply system harmonic voltage and harmonic current components increased, the power grid caused serious environmental pollution, increase the operating costs of the power operations of enterprises.At the same time, from the 1990s to enter the smart meter technology developed power system gradually reaches a certain level, in addition to the basic power parameter measurement, gradually adding a variety of functions, including the development of harmonic analysis is a hot link, many research institutions are different methods and techniques to develop this feature smart meters.In this paper, the existing smart meter has a harmonic analysis, combining their strengths and weaknesses, has proposed two harmonic analysis function smart meter design, respectively, the two schemes are modular hardware circuit design and functional analysis of the product by the software design flow chart, each subroutine software programming, the basic electricity parameter measurement, harmonic analysis, touch screen control and display, as well as the serial data output. Finally, the two programs were designed samples were basic electricity parameter measurement and harmonic measurement experiment experiments, and the measurement accuracy of the two products were compared. Experimental results show that the two schemes developed the product, the size of the measurement error are in line with national standards. Both solutions have some practical value, but needs to be based on the cost and precision requirements for the right choice.
