Power system relay protection actually refers to the relay protection technology and all kinds of relay protection device of relay protection system. With the needs of the development of power grid, the development of ultra-high voltage grid and large capacity technology makes the grid structure is becoming more and more complicated. To ensure the safe and stable operation of power grid become key problems of the electric power industry, so more and more is also high to the requirement of relay protection device itself.In this paper, in the development of microcomputer protection at home and abroad, this paper proposes a microprocessor control based on the FPGA chip microcomputer relay protection device. The device uses a fast Fourier algorithm, the use of specific circuit fault data samples, and then use this algorithm to process data, judging fault and action. Finally has carried on the simulation test, the test has a good effect.First of all, this article simply introduces the current status of domestic development of the digital substation, analysis the current problems existing in the digital substation relay protection system, and the present status of the study of reliability problems related. Secondly introduces the microcomputer protection and design of hardware platform based on hardware platform of peripheral AD sampling circuit, switch input/output circuit, serial communication circuit in the design process of the hardware circuit and working principle. On protection of software systems design, microcomputer protection system is studied in some typical principle and algorithms of microcomputer protection, take full advantage of the characteristics of processing data quickly, do some complex algorithm, choose fast Fourier algorithm on data processing to implement microcomputer protection.Then introduces the hardware description language (Verilog HDL) characteristics and QUARTUS II 11.0 software development process. Based on the FPGA development software Quartus II 11.0+Modsim platform for software programming and comprehensive simulation of each functional module, and using the MATLAB simulation tool, the simulation was carried out on the fault lines, gets some data as to meet the requirements of the action of relay protectionIn this paper, the main innovation points:use the FPGA programming languages verilog HDL to implement parallel processing and the modular design method. To realize FFT data processing module, and each function module, the principle of combining the action of relay protection can be quick to judge fault information and action.
