The national electric power system is a system which is closely combined with each other, which occupies an important position in the national industrial system. It plays an important role in the development of the country. Distribution network is an important part of the power system, the completion of the safety and reliability of electrical energy transport. With the development of society and economy, the demand of distribution network is constantly improved, reliable and accurate fault location of distribution network is the premise and foundation of power supply, exclusion and isolation of power distribution network fault restoration.When the distribution network has a fault, it can quickly determine the fault section is the primary task of the operation and maintenance personnel. Requires operation and maintenance personnel to reach the point of failure as soon as possible, the repair personnel can accurately carry out repairs, as far as possible to narrow the scope of the work to carry out the work. The fault location technology is advanced, the accuracy of fault location has a direct impact, and thus the user outage long impact, further will have an impact on all aspects of life, economic and social.The neutral point of the low voltage distribution network in China and abroad is very different from the neutral point of the distribution network, and the small current grounding mode is widely used. So many famous scholars in China have developed a series of instruments and methods based on the specific situation of distribution network automation level, grounding mode, structure characteristics and so on. But there are still many problems with these instruments and methods. Therefore, this paper mainly from the following aspects of the study:At first, this paper introduces the main characteristics of China’s distribution network, the background and significance of the project, the research status of the fault location in distribution network at home and abroad. Then according to the need to study the content, the overall demand of the system description is discussed, and the use of Zigbee wireless sensor network technology selected the fault location of the implementation, a detailed discussion of the fault location judgment result, information processing, information acquisition. Then the entire distribution network fault location management, to achieve the management functions of the use case analysis.Using the distribution network fault location management system based on wireless sensor networks to facilitate fault location, fault location system management, and effectively improve the efficiency of the power distribution network line maintenance work. Efficient and rapid implementation of the fault location and positioning equipment to rely on the hardware to match the background of the management software, so as to create a set of integrated fault location management system. The aim of this paper is to design a Zigbee wireless sensor technology which is based on the fault information acquisition equipment line fault indicator, and the use of Java programming language integration based on wireless sensor network of distribution network fault location management system. Fault information to achieve rapid access, rapid fault location, to unify management, to achieve a visual query analysis of the system management system.
