Research On Architecture Space Design And Utilization Rate Of Public Libraries In Beijing

Public Library is the cultural heart of a city. With the progress of society, people’s demand for spiritual culture is higher and higher. With the promotion of cultural undertakings, the construction of public libraries are developing rapidly. In recent years, Public libraries in Beijing has increased the financial input. And Beijing has achieved that all the public libraries in Beijing are open free to the readers in 2011, which means public libraries in Beijing have stepped on a new stage. Now, Beijing has built a lot of new public libraries. In order to adapt to the new era background and the needs of readers, the space of old public library buildings are constantly adjusted and improved. The new public library building space forward towards the modernization, which have the large area of space, add a lot of functions and the reading spaces are opening. Therefore, under the background of developing the construction of public libraries and advocating resource saving, it is particularly important to research on the Architecture space design and the space efficiency of the public library building space. What is needed to be explained is through the writer’s study found that only use the utilization rate to evaluate the quality of space design is slightly biased. So this paper takes the space efficiency as an extension of the utilization rate in the field of evaluation by architectural space design. The research on the space efficiency of the public library building in Beijing combines the space utilization, using satisfaction, using effect and other aspect considerations. From this perspective, launches the research, let the research become more macro and more comprehensive. Then analysis the pros and cons on the design of the public library buildings in Beijing. According the research puts forward the design strategy of public library space.Based on an investigation of the current using situation of the Beijing public libraries, and the longitudinal analyzing the spatial characteristics of library spaces, researching three construction of Beijing public libraries as the typical cases, which represent the current level of public library development. Three cases are the space of the new Chao Yang district library, the Capital Library and the new Tong Zhou district library. Taking these cases on the in-depth field research, to summed up their own space characteristics and evaluate the space effectiveness. Aiming at the deficiency of the three typical cases in space efficiency, proposes three improving cases. At last, this paper summed up the existing common deficiencies in the spaces of all public library in Beijing and proposed improving solutions. It also tried to find the solution to avoid the common deficiencies above, and to improve the space efficiency. The author tries to through the study of this article, to make my own contributions for public library construction design and research of the space in future.
