On The Construction Of Immigration Points In Southern Shaanxi From The Angle Of Regional Culture

Shangluo prefecture is in the Qinling Mountains of Southern Shaanxi. With environment deteriorating, the prefecture suffers frequent geological disasters and floods because of its unique characteristics of natural geography. As a result, both the economic and cultural developments, as well as people’s livelihood, are lagged behind.With Shaanxi Provincial Government’s macro-plan, the immigration program in the area is launched and has by far achieved abundant accomplishments for the beginning stage.In order to build a habitable homeland, the immigration program emphasizes the improvement of basic living conditions. It’s key points include not only fundamental construction, but also a research of key project which focuses on the inheritance and development of traditional culture. The program forces huge amount of people to leave their home of the past generations and further lead to complicated problems. The local people can’t adapt to their new production and living environment and suffer a reduced sense of belonging and a loss of personal social value. Their sense of history and culture becomes weak, and that the national cohesion wears away. Thus, the main question of this research lies in how to help the immigration project better preserve the traditional culture.Starting from an interdisciplinary angle that involves architecture, landscape,planning, arts and humanity, this research takes the immigration relocation in Shangluo,southern Shaanxi as subject. On the basis of a survey of the immigration points in the six counties of Shangluo prefecture and a deep excavation and analysis of the traditional culture of the region, this research discusses the relation between the local culture and the construction of the immigration relocation and does the theoretical and practical studies on how to integrate the local culture into the immigration relocation construction from the design angle. The author thinks that the regional culture in traditional country and the village construction are symbiotic, that the existence of the layout of traditional villages and their way of life do have their own value. A nation and a regional environment have their profound tradition and history. Instead of making a stereotyped replacement, we should comply with the local culture, inherit its tradition, and do a good job of immigration on the premise of protection of regional culture. The traditional regional culture of the area should be taken as the main design direction, with sustainable development and adaptation to local condition as constructive principles.The local culture should be blended into the design of immigration construction project when improving the new immigration district’s production and living environment to build a new homeland for the survival and development of the traditional culture of the region.
