Earthquake happen frequently in our country, the small earthquake can cause a disaster,it is the status quo of China’s towns and villages. Due to the insufficient recognition of seismic fortification, self-built housing is not only built extensive but also layout confusion. And rural housing is damage seriously after the earthquake, poses a threat to the security of rural areas. To improve the rural construction of disaster prevention and mitigation capacity is not allow the villagers to give up a structure to choose another form of structure,but adjust measures to local conditions to improve the seismic capacity within an acceptable cost. Therefore, the seismic performance of brick structure, local size, structural measures were studied, and improve the rural housing security has important practical significance.(1) Through the investigation and analysis of the brick structures, the present situation, development trend, the characteristics of earthquake damage and analyze the causes of damage were introduced in this paper, and lists some major earthquake examples of this house.(2) In order to further study the brick structure seismic performance, this article selects the typical two-story brick housing structure, and it is established with ABAQUS software. The modal analysis, response spectrum analysis, elastic and elastic-plastic time history analysis is used to analyze the structure, to get the basic dynamic characteristics of structure under the action of different intensity of ground motion, the response of the structure and the main weak links.(3) On the basis of the above analysis, according to the actual situation of rural buildings, remove the ring beam and constructional column, reduce the strength grade of mortar, change the size of the window between the wall and change the distance from the mouth of the cave to the end of exterior wall, and change wall materials, to set up five kinds of finite element model. The analysis of the effect of different design conditions on the structure of the overall performance. With floor displacement and stress level to check each model whether or not meets the seismic requirements.(4) Because of rural housing material strength is low, construction is bad, village houses destroyed before reaching the design service life,therefore, housing is hard to reach the current seismic code requirements. The main rural brick structure building basic requirements are put forward from the material selection, construction measures and so on. And high seismic performance method was put forward too.
