Research On Emotion Map In Wushan Campus Of South China University Of Technology

The Professor Kevin Lynch stressed the constitution of the Image of the City is identity, structure and meaning, and summarized the five elements including Zone, District, Path, Dote that has become the major city planning implementation guide in the study of the Image of the City by Kevin Lynch. But the city which is just limited within this five elements gradually lose the internal emotion relationship between the human and the place where they live, so it is essential to study the emotion and memory of the city. Later Kevin Lynch himself also admitted the Image of the City focused on matter perspectives, structure and identity, lacked of the research of the meaning, the non-material image of the city. The article focus on the meaning which is the Image of the City has ignored, introduces the concept of Emotion Map and construct its study method.First,this article summarizes the domestic and foreign academic researches related to the image of the city, and discovers the limitations of the study of The Image of The City. so this article starts from this limitation, carries out the further research.Secondly, this article proposes the concept of the emotion map, confirms the emotion elements, and construct the pervasive method of the emotion map. As the supplement of the Image of the City, Emotion map inherits the method of cognitive map, improves its operation process that starting from the human memory to obtain the emotion elements which comprises the Emotion Map.Finally, the method framework of the Emotion Map applies to Wushan Campus of South China University of Technology, it is two major method of the Emotion Map, collecting the SCUT historical background and interviewing the users about their memories happened in the Wuhan Campus of the SCUT. the material and data from the survey is analyses to be the Emotion Map of Wuhan Campus of the South China University of Technology. It is analyses that the emotion elements that influence the users cognize a place and its internal reason, the cognitive distribution of emotion elements and give the appropriate campus renewal advice from Emotion Map of Wuhan Campus of the South China University of Technology.
