Along with the development of the economy and the expansion of the campus scale, thepeople’s travel ways also have changed. And the number of vehicles is increasing rapidly, which has led to serious traffic problems on campus. As one of the national key universities, the teacher resources in SCUT has increasinglystrengthened in recent years, however, the environment on campus is facing great challenge. Itbecomes to increasingly prominent that the contradiction between the limitation of thecampus land and the expansion of enrollment in colleges. When they bring convenience to theteachers and the students, the vehicles also produce serious environmental pollution, noisepollution, at the same time, even threatening teachers’ and students’ life. The traffic problemson campus become increasingly serious.Based on the campus traffic in north campus of SCUT, the traffic problems in northcampus are studied and analyzed through the field survey and data collection, in order to findthe current existing problems and to put forward the optimization strategies of the traffic. As afamous university with60years old, this study can not only consummate relevant traffictheory, but also bring some practical significance to the north campus of SCUT in optimizingcampus traffic, and at the same time, provide certain reference to the domestic old campus intraffic optimization. The paper mainly includes the following several parts:The first part (questions) is the introduction which is the first chapter. It introduces thebackground and significance of the thesis topic. And the research object and scope are clearedthrough the analysis to the campus traffic basic concept; meanwhile, this paper summarizesthe current situation of related research at home and abroad, concluding with the researchmethods and framework of the thesis. The second part (analysis) includes the second and the third chapter. The second chapteris mainly about the relevant theoretical research which includes the traffic theory incommunity and that of sustainable development, as well as the characteristics in recent yearsin the campus planning of the traffic system in our country. The third chapter is mainly about the analysis of the traffic system in north campus of SCUT, respectively from the campusspace form, campus dynamic traffic and campus static traffic, campus public transportation, and campus traffic management and so on. This analysis is thoroughly analyzed, to providerealistic foundation for the optimization of the campus traffic. The third part (solving the problem) includes the fourth and the concluding chapter. Thefourth chapter puts forward the principle of the optimal traffic in campus, at the same time, italso answers the questions in chapter three combining with the domestic and internationalrelevant theory. At last, the author woks out the optimization strategy and the correspondingimprovement measures of the campus traffic in north campus of SCUT. The concludingchapter is a summary of the optimization strategies of the paper.
