With the development of science and the applications of new technologies, various types of materials testing machine has been fully developed. After over fifty years’ development of multi- function testing machine in our country, it has formed a system which relies on pre-trial to judge the reliability and safety of materials. Meanwhile, the multi- function testing machine interface design still lacks of further development. Conducting researches on testing machine interface and human machine has significant implications for improving work efficiency and reducing safety accidents. It also can guarantee the safety of testing process and the reliability of testing results.Testing machine software interface or user interface is the first impression that users have on the reliability of the product or the software, whose importance goes without saying. In order to improve the competitiveness of the product and to ensure the safety of the product, interface design must meet certain conditions: beautiful, easy to learn, easy to use, reliable, compliance with operation habits of users and so on.Started with the needs of users of the multi- function testing machine software system, combines with cognitive psychology, color design and semiotics, this paper conducts a deep research on the current development of domestic multi- function testing machine software interface and an analysis the competitive environment of the international market which provide a clear market positioning for the 80 MN testing machine interface project of China State Construction Engineering Corporation. Then, in order to provide a more convenient and more efficient way of service and to improve the utilization rate of the function modules of the software system, we study on the basic framework of the system that human machine interface is in and try to understand the operating principle and working environment of the software system to perform a further research on interface design.After the completion of the study and analysis of the software’s basic framework, this paper determine the interaction design methods according to the actual operating situation of the multi- function testing machine which can ensure the comprehensiveness of the interface research. Through the es tablishment of interoperable process and the application of ergonomics principles, we launch the work of subdividing interactive processes and operating methods for all kinds of circumstances that users are encountered during operating in order to establish the overall framework and structure of the software system.Finally, conduct the design of the software interface. First analyze interaction design principles and compliance with design theory to ensure that each step has a basis. Then in conjunction with various operation flowcharts of the testing machine, propose a brief interaction design scheme to ensure its standardization. Third step is to complete the application of the interface design and to propose extensible suggestions in accordance with the functional requirements of software capabilities and the competing demands of product development. Finally complete a comprehensive evaluation on the interface design schemes to ensure the feasibility, reliability and scientific nature of the results.
