Analysis On Plastic Art Of The Wooden Arcade Bridge In Fujian

Wooden Arcade Bridge, as outstanding folk style architecture in Fujian, is a wonderful work in the history of ancient Chinese wooden arch bridge. It reflects the superb artistry of building ancient wooden arch bridge as well as the aesthetic taste,customs and cultural values of the local common people. It is a classic folk art creation since it combines function, culture, art, folklore, history. The current literatures concerning Fujian wooden arcade bridge are mainly based on the overall study of mechanics, architecture and other engineering perspective, or just superficial introduction. It is very rare to analyze it from the view of art.Considering the above, this paper conducts a relatively comprehensive and systematic research on the plastic art of Fujian wooden arcade bridge from the perspective of art. The paper is divided into seven chapters. The first chapter identifies research principles, research value and object of study to create the basic framework for research. The second chapter first interprets the definition of Fujian wooden arcade bridge and other basic issues. Then, from the longitudinal perspective, it analyzes the historical background and development of Fujian wooden arcade bridge. It is found that its independent development system is rooted in the soil of the local culture of folk architecture. Lastly, from the horizontal perspective, this paper compares Fujian wooden arcade bridge with wooden arcade bridges elsewhere and finds the universality of wooden arcade bridges and the uniqueness of Fujian wooden arcade bridge. The third chapter studies the growth environment of Fujian wooden arcade bridge in terms of both natural environment and human environment. It is found that the natural environment is the direct cause of Fujian wooden arcade bridge, while the human environment provides fertile soil for the development of it. This leads to the fourth chapter, which shows that the independent development system and geographical environment create the unique plastic art of Fujian wooden arcade bridge. This chapter uses systematic analysis to classify Fujian wooden arcade bridge. Then, from overall analysis to partial contemplation, this chapter studies the technology and styling features of "Ⅲ-Ⅴ" bridge which is the most representative wooden arcade bridge. This part also summarizes the formal and decorative beauty of Fujian wooden arcade bridge. The fifth chapter makes a summary of the aesthetic characteristics of plastic arts of Fujian wooden arcade bridge.Chapter Six makes a discussion and a try about the combination of the plastic arts ofFujian wooden arcade bridge and modern design. It also proposes protection strategies for tourism development based on the geographical status quo of Fujian wooden arcade bridge. Chapter seven summarizes the creation idea and design value of Fujian wooden arcade bridge, which may has a reference for modern design.
