Research Of Xi ’an Art Gallery Under The Perspective Of Urban Heritage

Art is an important and distinctive flag in the stage of human civilization that actively promotes the society development. For works of art in urban areas, they record their own development histories, transmit their own culture and beautify their urbanites’ lives. Art is a remarkable cornerstone of the urban heritage as its necessities on both urban life and urban civilization transmission.Gallery, the Mecca of art, provides the way in which individuals get access to the window of art. In recent years, based on China’s unprecedented prosperous art market and increasing demand for public appreciation of art, Xi’an has formed its own art style in the realm of traditional painting and calligraphy art, cultural relics and contemporary installation art. Galleries in Xi’an, as a main medium for urban cultural interpretation, record and display its cultural histories and conditions in various forms and functions.In this context, this paper is carried out research of Xi’an art gallery buildings in prospective of urban heritage. There are three key points in this study. One is about the development process of Xi’an art gallery buildings, from the views of era, the city and the building itself, to explore and explain the evolution of art gallery buildings. The second is to explore the relationships between city and its art. In this phase, the profound effects of art on urban development and urban heritage are emphasized. In the third part, through a large number of case study analyses, current condition of Xi’an cultural heritage is discussed, the effect of art on culture presence and transmission is analyzed, space feature, morphological characteristics and its latent heritage value is explained for the purpose of Xi’an urban heritage system optimization. Finally, it is the study conclusion and adaptation prospect.
