With the increasingly fierce market competition, one of the most important ways which enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises is to have a good production system. The key content in manufacturing system, workshop layout, includes the setup for new system and improvement on the old one. Experience tells us that the quality of products, efficiency of production line and economic benefits of the company are closely linked with the quality of workshop layout. Therefore, optimizing the manufacturing system layout is a very a good means to raise the profit of an enterprise.The research of this thesis comes from the problem of GF6 turbine-shaft workshop in my company. Based on the prominent contradiction which is caused by the fact and demand of customers in the future of our turbine-shaft workshop, we find the problems of the production site, analyze the causes and develop measures. This thesis focused on optimizing the layout and balancing the production line of the turbine-shaft workshop.Firstly, we make a systematic analysis for the problems of the workshop layout by using SLP(Systematic Layout Planning) theory. The workshop layout is be redesigned by combining logistics diagram, operating unit figure and improvements of logistics. Then the workshop logistics lines have been made clear and the management of the workshop has been improved.Simultaneously, the production line has been also optimized through the path of Line Balance and Ergonomics. The thesis analyzes the factors, such as staff, equipment, material, method, which impact the balance of production line. The old production line has been improved by increasing the equipment, adjusting the equipment layout, adjusting the stations, setting forehearths and improving the fixtures. The production line balancing rate has been updated from 58.9% to 94.5%. Finally, the takt of the new production line reach 18 s. The capacity has been updated from 400,000 one year to 1,000,000 one year, increased 67%.This study is expected to bring some inspirations to other production-oriented companies.
