Ultrasonic motors(USM for short) is a new type direct-drive motor which utilises ultrasonic vibrations generated by the converse piezoelectric effect of piezoelectric ceramics as the driving force and drives the motion of rotors by frictions between them. Compared with the traditional electromagnetic motor, it has outstanding features such as low speed & large torque,electromagnetic interference free, rapid response, quiet running, input-check & auto-lock, etc, and its performance in areas of discontinuous motion and precision control is much more superior than the traditional electromagnetic motor. It has broad application prospects in areas of industrial control systems, vehicle appliances, precision instruments, office automation equipments,intelligent robots,etc, it receives growing attention from circles of technology and industry, and becomes a research hotspot in current electromechanical control field.This paper mainly focuses on the wireless control technology of ultrasonic motor based on Zigbee. Firstly, technical characteristics of the ultrasonic motor and Zigbee are analysed and model simulations of contact interface of a 60 nm annular traveling-wave ultrasonic motor are done. Then, takes the MC9S12XS128 micro-controller as the core, designs the drive controller of the ultrasonic motor, and does simulation experiments on hardware circuit. On the basis of the result of above research, combines with the MESH network which is established based on the Zigbee technology, and uses the monitoring interface program which is developed in Labview and runs on the upper system, the wireless control of ultrasonic motor is implemented, which greatly decreases the requirements for the operating environment of the ultrasonic motor. Lastly, the PID speed control for the wireless control platform is tested and the results are provided.
