The Feasibility Study To Broaden The LaoTieShan Channel

In recent years, with the acceleration of integration process of Bohai Rim Economic Circle and the rapid development of water transportation, the quantities of vessels visiting Bohai Gulf are increasing constantly. As one of the main channels leading to Bohai Gulf, the vessel traffic density of Lao Tie Shan channel is increasing continuously. Moreover, the changes of various natural conditions and the influences of main fishing grounds and Non-transport Ships aggravate the complexity of the navigation environments of the Lao Tie Shan channel, which leads to high risk of vessels traffic and contributes to great threat to vessels’ safety. As a result, the demand for widening the upgrading Lao Tie Shan channel is becoming more and more urgent.Based on statistics of navigation environments and marine accidents of Lao Tie Shan channel and neighborhood, this paper analyzes the navigation features and traffic regularities of Lao Tie Shan channel. Combining with the next few years’development tendencies of main ports of Bohai Rim Economic Circle, this paper tries to analyze the necessity and feasibility of widening project of Lao Tie Shan channel.Based on the domestic and foreign existing research methods and achievements, considering standard ship size conversion, the ship’s safety field, channel traffic saturation and waterway capacity etc., this paper adopts the traffic flow calculation model and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, uses visibility, wind, current, channel width, channel crossing condition and traffic volume as index for assessment of the traffic risk of Lao Tie Shan channel, establishes traffic evaluation index, calculates and evaluates the potential navigation risk of the channel, analyze and calculate the widening values of the channel respectively, selects the best calculation scheme and come to conclusion of the next ten years about the widening planning of the channel.Finally, according to the development trend of large scale ships and the needs of waters pollution prevention, this paper puts forward a feasible solution for widening Lao Tie Shan channel and puts forward some concrete recommendations for the safety management of Lao Tie Shan channel widened, considering the trends and requirements of modernization management of water traffic...
