| Since the northern regions of our country started requiring individual contributions to heating costs in winter, most areas charge based on the size of a residence. The actual amount of household heat consumption is not being considered in this case, which lacks rationality. Furthermore, the traditional way of meter reading by a human meter reader has much inconvenience, and it contributes to a waste of manpower and physical resources. In order to improve this situation, a heat meter system that supports remote monitoring and meter reading has been designed and explained in this paper. The system has S3C2440 microprocessor as the hardware core and the Linux operating system as the software core. Through the temperature sensor and the flow transmitter circuits via the S3C2440 microprocessor, three parameters: each household’s instantaneous hot water outflow and instantaneous inflow and outflow hot water temperatures are measured in a specific time period, and then a household’s instantaneous heat consumption is calculated using the first law of thermodynamics, and from the time formula of instantaneous heat consumption, the actual amount of a household’s heat consumption over a period of time is known.Using the embedded Qt technology, a rich interface that monitors real-time parameters, an interface that displays historical data and other display interfaces have been designed. The color LCD touch screen that this system provides satisfies users’ needs to perform live inquiry on monitored and measured parameters.GSM short messaging technology helps achieve remote reading of heat meters and realize long-distance transmission of monitored data. This system measures the actual amount of heat consumption in a household, which makes heating charges reasonable. The addition of the remote meter reading functionality makes meter reading more convenient and reduces manpower expenses. This design will improve the automation and the management levels of heating providers and has good practical and economic significance. |
