Considering the settlement measuring technology of building construction, bridge, tunnel, subgrade and urban mass transit and so on during the construction and operation of buildings, a kind of settlement automatic remote monitoring and controlling system was designed based on the settlement measuring technology and data collecting and transferring technologies, its accuracy and usefulness be verified by experiment. It has important theoretical significance and practical value to monitor, forecast the settlement scientifically, rationally, effectively and grasp the settlement laws timely and exactly.Firstly, the present situation of domestic and foreign common subsidence monitoring technology and data collection and transmission technology were analyzed. Problems were concluded by multi-angle comparing the current settlement monitoring technology and data acquiring and transmission technology. So composition system to be developed can be determined.A kind of settlement automatic remote monitoring and controlling system was designed which consisted of sensor subsystem, data acquisition and transmission subsystem and data analysis subsystem by using single-chip microcomputer technology and GPRS internet communication technology. The accuracy and stability of the system, the stability of data transmission and on-site environmental adaptability were analyzed through experiments. The system showed its simple system architecture, large data storage capacity, stable GPRS transmission, high accuracy, low cost and easily adapted to environment.Structure was optimized by nearly a year of experimental design of the system to achieve its automated monitoring, remote control and telemetry functions. It was summed up that the main factors affecting the accuracy of data collection and transmission subsystem are the power supply, resistors and AD converters through a large number of experimental data and theoretical analysis. The stability test showed the system’s high accuracy (better than1/25000) and little influenced by the external environment after.Based on the high accuracy of data acquisition and transmission subsystem, the paper proposed appropriate disposal methods from the analysis of pressure, temperature, gravity with Bernoulli equation as the breakthrough point. It was analyzed the effects of temperature on the hydrostatic leveling system accuracy and verified a certain temperature correction model by installing the temperature sensor in the hydrostatic level sensor.The system was tested from the linearity, stability and accuracy of three angles. The test results showed that the software and hardware of this remote monitoring and controlling system have reached the design requirements, the accuracy is less than0.1mm, its stability was good and it satisfied the requirements of civil engineering settlement monitoring. It can be controlled remotely and it is a excellent remote automatic monitoring system.
